Gatherings

Quebec maintains the authorization to gather 10 vaccinated people (or 3 family bubbles), until Sunday. From December 26, indoor gatherings will be restricted to 6 people (or 2 family bubbles). Places of worship can accommodate 50% of their capacity, for a maximum of 250 people. The vaccination passport is compulsory. Weddings and funerals can bring together 250 people inside, with vaccination passport (otherwise 25 people), or 500 outside. When the body of a deceased is displayed, 50 people can be present at a time. A maximum of 50 people can gather for an event in an outdoor public place.

Exits

From December 26, the capacity of tables in restaurants will be 6 people (or 2 family bubbles). The outdoor terraces can accommodate a maximum of 20 people. Restaurants must close at 10 p.m. Bars, brasseries, taverns and casinos are closed until further notice, as are cinemas, but not drive-ins. Indoor activities in recreational areas (water parks, zoos, etc.) are suspended, but outdoor activities can continue, while respecting physical distancing. Libraries and museums remain open. Shops must limit their attendance to 50% of their capacity, ie 1 person per 20 square meters.

Education

Primary schools have been closed since December 21. They are accessible for vaccination and delivery of rapid tests. The start of the school year is postponed to January 10 for preschool, primary and secondary as well as for adult education and vocational training centers. Universities can also resume as of January 10. All extracurricular and sports activities as well as tournaments are suspended. Childcare services remain open.

Travel

The federal government is asking to avoid all non-essential travel outside of Canada. There are no administrative segregation measures planned for people arriving from other Canadian provinces. Travelers returning from a short stay abroad must get tested outside the country before entering Canada. Quarantine is not required of fully vaccinated travelers. Travel within Quebec is not restricted, with the exception of Nunavik and Terres-Cries-de-la-Baie-James.

Hobbies

Physical training centers are now closed, such as spas and saunas. Hairdressing salons and other personal care businesses are open by appointment and at 50% of their capacity. Professional or amateur sports activities can be presented behind closed doors. Indoor sports or leisure activities can bring together a maximum of 25 people. Those outside do not have the same restrictions. Ski cabins and snowmobile relays must limit their capacity to 50%. All interior cultural events are suspended.

CHSLDs and hospitals

As of December 23, only fully vaccinated people will be able to visit the living environments for seniors. In private seniors’ residences (RPA), from December 23 to 25, visits can be made for 2 people at a time (4 people maximum per day). In the event of an outbreak, only family caregivers will be admitted. In CHSLDs, only one visitor at a time will be authorized (2 per day). Also in CHSLDs, seniors returning from a gathering will have to undergo a screening test and isolate themselves. In RPAs, they won’t have to get tested unless they have symptoms. At the hospital, only one caregiver at a time is allowed, for a maximum of 2 per day.
