Five departments in the southwest have been placed on rain-flood red vigilance by Météo France since Sunday. It could fall locally up to two months of rain in 48 hours.
Tristan Hamm, forecaster at Météo France was the guest of the 7:30 am newspaper of France Bleu Occitanie on Monday, January 10: “” We have not had record precipitation but we have been at more than 50mm since Sunday, in places we have exceeded 100mm, which corresponds to a month of rain. And we still expect up to 100mm of rain, up to 250mm locally in the mountains, which is equivalent to two months of rain in less than 48 hours. “
Météo France is monitoring this episode very closely, while vigilance is valid until 4 p.m. on Monday. The population must respect certain safety instructions :
- avoid moving, do not take your car
- stay upstairs, don’t go to the basement
Disruptions in transport and on the roads
Access to Andorra is completely impossible for motorists on Monday. Some roads in the Aude are cut off. Concerning trains, there are disruptions on the Latour Toulouse axis and an adaptation on the Mazamet Toulouse axis
