Environment Canada has issued special weather alerts and bulletins for some fifteen regions, including Sept-Îles, Anticosti, Sainte-Anne-des-Monts and the Îles-de-la-Madeleine.
In the Gaspé, the storm could leave between 20 and 30 centimeters of snow. Blowing snow is also expected.
“The heavy snow will start on Wednesday afternoon before diminishing in intensity overnight. The snow will recede on Thursday morning, but strong winds blowing up to 70 kilometers per hour behind the system will generate blowing snow during the day Thursday, ”the federal agency said on its website.
Gusts of up to 80 km / h and up to 15 centimeters of snow are expected in the Magdalen Islands. Snow is expected to start falling Wednesday evening before changing to rain or freezing rain in the evening. On Thursday morning, the precipitation is expected to turn back to snow, at times heavy.
