Up to 18 months in prison required against the managers of a cannabis drive in Périgueux

After the anti-drug raid carried out on Tuesday January 18 in Périgueux and Notre-Dame de Sanilhac, 7 of the 16 people placed in police custody had to explain themselves this Friday January 21 in an immediate appearance before the judicial court of Périgueux. Justice accuses them to varying degrees of having managed a point of sale of cannabis, at the corner of rue Sébastopol and rue Louis Blanc in Périgueux. During the searches, the investigators got their hands on 550 grams of cannabis resin, 100 grams of weed and 5,000 euros in cash.

A complaint from residents

It was the residents who alerted the police but also reported the point of sale of narcotics on a dedicated platform. The police therefore investigated for four months, which enabled him to identify the various actors of the traffic, seven men between the ages of 20 and 38 considered the main actors. According to the prosecutor, these people in a regular and stable situation, “exploited poverty, using small hands, a dozen young people in an irregular situation crammed into a squat in Notre-Dame-de-Sanilhac”.

During the hearing, most denied the facts explaining simply being present at the point of sale “to have a coffee”. But a camera, placed by the police for a month and a half on rue Sébastopol, recorded the transactions and the comings and goings of each other. The dealers had set up a drive system, which allowed customers to be served without having to get out of the car. The drugs were hidden in air vents, downspouts or car bumpers. During this time, electric scooter lookouts patrolled the sector to warn sellers of a possible arrival of the police.

A characterized traffic for the public prosecutor who requested against the defendants sentences ranging from 12 months in prison suspended to 18 months in prison with a warrant of committal.
