Leave no crumbs for your competitors. Dutchman Max Verstappen intends to apply this credo until the end of the season. Already assured of a third consecutive world crown, the Red Bull driver once again crushed the competition on Sunday October 22 during the sprint race of the United States Grand Prix in Austin (Texas).
Sixth in qualifying for the Grand Prix, Max Verstappen rectified his situation during qualifying for the sprint race by taking pole position. A first place that he did not leave during the 19 laps, repelling the attack of Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) at the start. “It was a bit tight at the first corner, but we left ourselves enough room and after that I was able to race. The pace of the car was very good, and I will need it starting from sixth place because I also want to win the Grand Prix”, declared the Dutchman, looking for his 50th career success on Sunday evening.
Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) crossed the line in second position, nine seconds behind Verstappen’s Red Bull. Monegasque Charles Leclerc – who will start in pole position during the Grand Prix – completes the podium. For the Tricolores, Pierre Gasly (Alpine) scores two points in the championship with his seventh place, Esteban Ocon finishes 11th.
