Unstable climate in Haiti: Ottawa announces another flight to evacuate Canadians

Canadians who were unable to evacuate Haiti thanks to the assisted departures put in place by Ottawa will be able to do so this week, since the government has announced an additional flight.

Last Wednesday, the federal government extended its assisted departure operations from Haiti while the climate remained unstable. The last flight was scheduled to take place on Sunday. However, in response to demand, an additional flight was added by Global Affairs Canada.

“As our assisted departures from Haiti come to an end, we have seen an influx of requests at the last minute. For those who missed today’s flight, know that we will have an additional flight this week,” said Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly in a tweet on X.

Canadian citizens, permanent residents of Canada and their immediate family members who want to evacuate Haiti can contact Global Affairs Canada.
