Unmasked, I can hardly imagine myself!

I remember that when I was taking acting classes at university, we had created a commedia dell’arte show. So all the characters wore masks. I had a blast playing in this theatrical show. I interpreted the famous Polichinelle. But I also had the opportunity to wear the masks of all the other characters during rehearsals. Tell you the pleasure it gave me…

Then, I also remember a famous masked ball, still at the university, most memorable. Wearing a mask was therefore an unforgettable experience.

Then, on July 18, 2020, when wearing a protective mask became mandatory in Quebec, I said to myself quietly: “Here, here is another opportunity for me to wear a mask. “Obviously, pandemic obliges. But I also said to myself: “I will try to take this new health measure as a game, as long as it lasts. Admittedly, not all of my peers saw it the same way.

Saturday, May 14, the protective mask will no longer be mandatory in Quebec in closed public places, except in public transport and health establishments.

I still have trouble imagining that I will be able to enter my favorite restaurants, the grocery store, the library and elsewhere without a mask.

Ha! Finally the joy of seeing the smiles of my peers more often.

One thing is certain, I will not say this time that wearing a mask was a great pleasure or an unforgettable experience.

But that the compulsory wearing of the protective mask will have been, for almost two years, a necessary gesture, imbued with solidarity and resilience towards my fellow human beings.
