In a message sent to its community, UQAM indicates that it has taken this decision because the number of new cases of COVID-19 in Quebec remains “for the moment very high”.

For most students at this university, the winter term begins on January 10.

In Quebec City, Laval University has also announced that the winter semester courses could be given remotely until the end of the month, at least.

“Depending on the evolution of the situation and government instructions, it seems likely to us that the activation of the withdrawal plan should extend until January 30. We invite you to prepare yourself accordingly, ”Laval University wrote to its students.

Certain existing activities are nevertheless maintained, such as internships and practical training activities.

Quebec announced at the end of December that in elementary and secondary schools as well as in CEGEP and university, the return to class will not take place before January 17.
