This settlement recommendation will be submitted to the members of the Université Laval professors’ union (SPUL) at a meeting scheduled for Wednesday.
Its president, Louis-Philippe Lampron, said he was confident of the result. For its part, the management of Université Laval remained cautious, but optimistic.
The employer party will also submit the settlement proposal to its authorities by Wednesday at the latest.
“In the event that the two authorities accept the proposal, we can plan a return to class no earlier than Thursday morning. More details will follow to this effect, ”replied the communications department by email.
The conciliator believes that this recommendation can settle the matter. The board of directors of Université Laval will have to decide.
This strike has lasted for more than four weeks and affects approximately 23,000 students, or approximately 40% of the courses offered.
Laval University has already opened the door to extending the session beyond April 30.
