United States | The amount of sales approached 12 billion dollars during the “Prime Day”

This amount represents an increase of 8.5% compared to the revenues of all e-commerce platforms recorded during Amazon’s “Prime Day” last year.

The Prime service gives its 200 million subscribers access to fast and free deliveries for many items as well as entertainment platforms, including video streaming.

The sector giant was pleased that its subscribers to the “Prime” paid formula purchased more than 300 million products worldwide over the two days of its operation.

“This is the biggest Prime Day in Amazon’s history,” the Seattle group said in a statement.

The company also highlighted SMEs that market their products on the platform, “whose sales growth on Amazon has exceeded that of Amazon products”.

“Customers spent more than $3 billion on more than 100 million small business items,” added the group, which faces numerous accusations of anticompetitive practices, including on its site.

Overall, Amazon devices (speakers, cameras, TVs and other connected objects), electronics (like Apple’s latest smartwatch) and beauty, toiletries and kitchen products were particularly popular, according to the platform.

Adobe experts have also noticed a rush on promotional school products, while American households are suffering from inflation at its highest since 1981.

“It’s clear that consumers are incredibly price conscious,” noted Pat Brown, Adobe’s vice president of data and research.

“Merchants have an incentive to leverage prices effectively to unlock new growth potential online,” he said.

Inflation and its impact on households are closely monitored in the United States, where consumption is the main driver of the economy.
