(Los Angeles) Rickie Fowler retained the lead on Friday after the second round of the United States Open in Los Angeles, one stroke ahead of Wyndham Clark and two over the Rory McIlroy-Xander Schauffele duo.
The American, in search of his first Major title, returned a card of 68 (-10 in total) after his record run the day before (62). Despite committing six bogeys (eight birdies), he completed the second lap alone in the lead.
Just behind him, Wyndham Clark, winner last month of his first tournament on the PGA Tour, signed a 67 (-9), and is ahead of the duo Rory McIlroy-Xander Schauffele, on the third step of the podium at -8.
World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is in the game (8e at -5), the complete opposite of No. 2 Jon Rahm (49e), who, with a card of 73 (+2 in total), was only one shot away from missing the cleaver.
At 19e rank, is the Frenchman Romain Langasque, passed a stroke under par thanks to a score of 68. Paul Barjon, well placed the day before and Matthieu Pavon, author of a hole in one in the first round, were eliminated.
