In the first round, Alcaraz had benefited from the abandonment of another Argentinian, Sebastian Baez (37e), which gave him a hard time. But on Thursday, he showed himself clearly above the fray.
In the next round, he will face the American Jenson Brooksby (43e).
Last year, Alcaraz reached the quarter-finals of a Grand Slam tournament in New York for the first time. This year, at 19, he returns in the costume of one of the main contenders for the title.
