Failing to take drastic measures to fight global warming, New York embarks on the construction of an anti-flood wall. The city is a regular victim of climate change, and could be submerged by rising waters by 2050.

Surrounded by water and threatened by global warming, Manhattan Island in New York (United States) barricades himself. To no longer be vulnerable to every bad weather, the American city has begun the construction of a gigantic anti-flood wall. Over four kilometers long, huge concrete panels are to protect the city from storms and hurricanes.

The objective of the construction site is to create an impermeable barrier to any infiltration to protect the southeast of the Manhattan district, which is the lowest point of the island. The construction site at 1.3 billion euros is financed by the city and federal aid. To complete it, the town hall must destroy several parks in order to raise them, which arouses the anger of some activists. On the other hand, the idea of the wall seems appreciated by the inhabitants. The project will be fully completed in 2026.
