On the evening of Wednesday, October 25, in Lewiston, Maine, a man opened fire at a bowling alley and bar. He killed 18 people and injured 13 others. In the aftermath of the tragedy, he is still actively sought.
Wednesday, October 25, it is 7 p.m. and the night has just turned into a nightmare in the town of Lewiston, in Maine, in the northeast of the United States. A shooter has just entered a bowling alley with a semi-automatic rifle. He opens fire. Panicked customers flee by all means. The police received several distress calls. Ten minutes later, a bar was targeted. In total, the shooter killed 18 people and injured 13 others.
The suspect’s profile
A traumatized witness recounts the scene: “As soon as I turned around, I saw a man with a gun. I ran onto the track to hide where the pins were. I stayed for about ten minutes until the police arrived .” The shooter is Robert Card, 40, an Army reservist and certified firearms instructor. He reportedly spent two weeks this summer in a psychiatric hospital, after hearing voices and threatening to attack a military base.
Although we do not yet know the shooter’s motivations, the authorities are warning the population. Several hundred police officers, assisted by the FBI, patrol each neighborhood. Residents are prohibited from leaving their homes.
