On Sunday January 9, a passenger plane crashed at Los Angeles (United States). Against all expectations, the injured pilot was saved.

On a railroad track in Los Angeles (United States), an injured pilot lands his plane in an emergency. The railway line is immediately taken by a train which runs at full speed, and which one guesses that it will not stop. Faced with the urgency of the situation, four police officers drag the injured pilot as far as possible from the track. A few seconds later, the train struck the plane in its path. “When we realized the train wouldn’t stop, my first thought was ‘we have to get him out of there’, testifies Damien Castro, one of them.

The beginnings of the investigation revealed that the damaged plane would have suffered a loss of propulsion during its take-off from a nearby aerodrome. The four officers were greeted with warm greetings by Los Angeles Police. “Our teamwork went well. We had the same mindset, and I think any officer would have done the same.”, says a member of the police. The septuagenarian pilot was taken care of by the hospital, where he was able to regain a stable condition.
