United States: car crashes into crowd leaving more than 20 injured, dead

A car slammed into a crowd gathered for a Christmas parade in Wisconsin, United States on Sunday evening, leaving more than 20 injured and “dead,” police said.

The incident, which authorities were still trying to gather information on, took place around 4:30 p.m. (10:30 p.m. GMT), as spectators gathered in Waukesha watched the traditional Christmas parade held annually in the town of L ‘State of Wisconsin (north).

“A red SUV burst into the Christmas parade we are having in the city center,” Police Chief Dan Thompson told reporters. “More than 20 people were injured as a result of this incident,” he said.

There have been “deaths,” Police Chief Dan Thompson told a press conference. Local officials also said that 11 adults and 12 children had been taken to hospital.

“Waukesha police have located a suspicious vehicle. An investigation is underway, ”he said, adding that the authorities had identified a person as part of this investigation.

Angelito Tenorio, candidate for the post of State Treasurer and present at the scene, told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that he saw an SUV-type vehicle speeding down the road used by the parade. “Then I heard a big shock and deafening screams from people hit by the vehicle,” he said.
