Shaken by repeated scandals and weakened by the departure of many ministers, Boris Johnson tendered his resignation as head of the Conservative Party on Thursday July 7. He will remain Prime Minister while he finds his successor.

In the early afternoon of Thursday, July 7, a crowd gathered outside the 10, downing street in London (UK). Boris Johnson, the British Prime Minister, is finally got out from his residence to announce that he was stepping down as leader of the Conservative Party. It is clearly the will of the Conservative Party that there is a new leader of the party, and therefore a new Prime Minister. And I want you to know that I’m sad today to leave the best job in the world.“said Boris Johnson.

Boris Johnson immediately left the head of the Party under the boos. However, he remains in his post as Prime Minister, until his political party chooses a successor. His position had become untenable, and the discontent too strong following the scandal too many.

Boris Johnson is indeed suspected to have appointed a deputy to a strategic position, knowing the accusations of sexual assault of which the latter was the subject. He found himself dropped by his own camp, with cascading resignations, including leading ministers. This scandal is coming after many others, including that of the illegal parties organized in his residence in full confinement.
