“Making France stronger and fairer is the fight for the coming years.” During a press conference on Tuesday January 16, Emmanuel Macron drew the main lines of action that he intends to implement with the new government of Gabriel Attal.
Before answering questions from some 250 journalists gathered at the Elysée, the President of the Republic first presented, in an introductory speech lasting around twenty minutes, his ideas for the “civic rearmament” of the society. Here is what to remember from the main announcements of the Head of State.
An overhaul of civic education and work on the use of screens by children
On education, Emmanuel Macron promised “refounded civic education” with “a doubled hourly volume, one hour per week from fifth grade, with support from the founding texts of the Nation”. The theater will become “a compulsory move to college from the next school year”. He also called for establishing “from this year”a “graduation ceremony” in middle and high schools.
