A new day of strike in National Education is planned for Tuesday February 6, franceinfo learned from the unions on Friday. Behind this call are several unions, including Snes, the main union in middle and high schools, but also CGT Educ’action and Sud Education. The decision was taken after an inter-union meeting which took place Friday afternoon.
Teachers are mobilizing around the question of their salaries but also around the application of the “knowledge shock” measures, launched by Gabriel Attal to raise the level of students and which must come into force at the next school year. The system is in fact controversial with regard to the level groups in particular. In addition to this new strike day, the unions want to organize actions throughout the week in the form of rallies or even local initiatives.
On Thursday, a first day of mobilization was organized throughout France. In total, 20.26% of teachers were on strike, according to figures from the Ministry of Education. The Snes-FSU, the leading secondary education union, estimated the rate of strikers in middle and high schools at 47%, and the FSU-SNUIPP, the main primary union, counted 40% of strikers in nursery and elementary schools.
