Union members of the Fédération de la santé du Québec ratify the agreement in principle concluded with the Treasury Board

Members of the Fédération de la santé du Québec (FSQ), affiliated with the CSQ, have approved the agreement in principle reached with Quebec, the union announced Friday.

According to the FSQ, 80.4% of members who voted approved the agreement in principle, made with the Treasury Board on June 21. The agreement in principle was submitted to members at general meetings until Thursday.

“After more than 20 months of negotiations, the members decided to move in this direction while the challenges are major in the health network,” indicated the FSQ, in a press release published early Friday morning.

“Although this new agreement marks an improvement in the working conditions of healthcare personnel, there is still a long way to go. The challenges facing the network are more present than ever and we will have to roll up our sleeves in the coming months to counter the labour shortage and promote staff retention,” said FSQ President Isabelle Dumaine in the same document.

The FSQ-CSQ represents more than 5,000 nurses, nursing assistants and respiratory therapists in the regions of Laval, Côte-Nord, Nord-du-Québec, Gaspésie and Montreal.
