Unilever France fined two million euros for late payment to suppliers

Several companies have received heavy fines for the same reason since the start of 2023.

A fine of two million euros was imposed on the food and hygiene products giant Unilever in France due to “delays in paying supplier invoices”announced Monday the Fraud Repression (DGCCRF) on its website.

The fine targeting Unilever France was imposed by the Regional and Interdepartmental Directorate of the Economy, Employment, Labor and Solidarity (DRIEETS) of Ile-de-France. It follows an investigation launched by the DGCCRF “on compliance with the rules of the Commercial Code regarding payment deadlines”specifies on its website the service dependent on the Ministry of the Economy.

Each year, DRIEETS carries out checks to ensure compliance with payment deadlines between companies, whose delays primarily penalize small and medium-sized businesses. Since the start of the year, several large companies have received heavy fines for the same reason, including Veolia (1.6 million euros) and M6 (1.1 million euros).
