The former FARC guerrilla splinter group, known as Segunda Marquetalia, has agreed to a unilateral ceasefire and to release the people they are holding captive. This is what the organization announced the Colombian government in a joint press release, Saturday June 29, at the end of the first round of negotiations.

The date of entry into force of the ceasefire is not specified, but the text specifies that “full implementation of de-escalation will begin upon entry into force of the presidential decree on offensive military operations”.

The press release states that “The unilateral ceasefire of the Second Marquetalia-EB does not imply the limitation of the constitutional and legal powers of the security forces”. The rebel group also pledged to “do not remain armed or in uniform” in the “urban centers” And “land and waterways”.
