The government wants to change the terms of compensation for job seekers. It could, for example, modulate them according to the dynamism of the labor market, and would even consider taking local situations into account.

On the menu of the new parliamentary term, there is the reform of unemployment insurance. What contours could this take? Several avenues are being studied within the government. The first one : modulate unemployment insurance rules according to the dynamism of the labor market. Clearly, the conditions for compensation would be stricter when unemployment is low, and more generous when job seekers are numerous.

Two criteria could therefore be modulated: the duration of work necessary to be entitled to unemployment, or that of the compensation itself. thes allowances could also be different depending on the territory, higher or lower depending on the unemployment rate in each employment area. Nothing has been decided yet, but the unions are against these various proposals. After the period of consultation with the social partners, Emmanuel Macron has set a target of early 2023 for the entry into force of the reform.
