Prime Minister Gabriel Attal will convene a government seminar in Matignon devoted to work, one of the major themes of his policy, with the ministers concerned, Wednesday March 27, from 10 a.m. to noon.

On the agenda: a possible reform of unemployment insurance, while social spending is in the executive’s sights to reduce the deficit, as well as the four-day week, still in an experimental state. The seminar will be divided into three subjects: encouraging people to return to work, “de-employment” and collective reflection on new forms of work, Matignon announced to France Télévisions.

Gabriel Attal will speak to the news

The head of government will be invited to the 8 p.m. news on TF1 on Wednesday evening, the private channel said. He will speak in particular on the budget and the labor market. “The day after the publication of the latest INSEE figures, the Prime Minister will be questioned in particular on the question of the deficit”specified TF1. “He will also unveil the government’s latest decisions on labor and will speak on several current issues”added the channel.

INSEE revealed on Tuesday a budget deficit equivalent to 5.5% of GDP in 2023, i.e. 0.7 points more than the previous year, and 0.6 points more than initially forecast by the government. The government warned at the beginning of March that the deficit would be “significantly” higher than its forecast of 4.9% of GDP.
