Understanding Prestige in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6

The Prestige system in Call of Duty has seen several changes over the years. Since the launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare in 2019, the progression was tied to seasons, leading to a more repetitive experience that diminished the prestige factor for veteran players.

However, Black Ops 6 is bringing back a classic prestige system with enhanced customization options compared to earlier titles.

This shift means you can embark on your journey towards achieving the highest prestige level (Prestige Master) right at the game’s launch once the online servers go live.

How to Unlock Prestige Levels in BO6

Consistency is key! You will be able to activate your prestige levels after reaching account level 55. However, this activation will entail certain changes to your account:

  • You will reset back to player level 1.
  • Your previously unlocked levels will be re-locked, requiring re-unlocking, except for basic operators, emoticons, and GobbleGums in zombies, along with anything you permanently unlock.
  • Your weapon arsenal will be reset.
  • Total statistics will still be visible in your battle log, but other parts of the game will only show your current prestige statistics.

Fortunately, some aspects remain unaffected by this reset:

  • Weapon progression, including camouflage and reticles.
  • Weapon builds—though your favorite weapon may be relocked, all builds you’ve previously created will be waiting for you once you reach the necessary level again.
  • Challenge progression and unlocks.
  • Store and Battle Pass content.
  • Operators and emoticons.
  • Zombie GobbleGums.

What is the Permanent Unlock System?

The return of the traditional prestige progression has not prevented developers from introducing some innovative features, including the Permanent Unlock System.

Each time you reach a new prestige level, you earn a unique token that allows you to instantly unlock any item in the game, bypassing the usual level requirements. This acts as a shortcut for acquiring sought-after equipment.

You’ll receive 10 tokens, one for each prestige level, for one-time use. Choose wisely, as you won’t have the chance to make changes later. However, once you attain the maximum prestige (level 10 at prestige 55), all items will be accessible without needing to use any unlock tokens.

Unlocking Master Prestige Levels in BO6

Upon activating your prestige levels and reaching level 10, you gain access to the master prestige levels. Completing this path offers an additional 1,000 levels to unlock, along with all the associated rewards.

Prestige Rewards in BO6

In recognition of players’ dedication, exclusive rewards are available at each prestige level. These rewards include emblems, calling cards, weapon camouflage, and occasionally cosmetic items for your operators.

In addition to cosmetics, players can also unlock specific challenges linked to each prestige level.

Leveling Up Prestige in Zombie Mode

Absolutely! There are no restrictions on experience gain regarding your account level and prestige. You can earn XP in both multiplayer and zombie modes (as well as in Season 01: Call of Duty: Warzone) to progress through 55 levels of weapons, gear, unlockable scorestreaks, and more.
