21 people died in a bus accident in Venice (Italy), Tuesday October 3. Investigators are exploring all avenues.
A gaping hole in the middle of the Rizzardi Viaduct (Venice, Italy). Last stigma of the accident which cost the lives of 21 people, Tuesday October 3, and injured 15 others, including a French woman. “The injured ask for information from their loved ones who were with them at the time of the accident”, confides Chiara Berti, director of the Angelo de Mestre hospital. The reasons for the tragedy are not yet known.
“It’s very complex from a clinical point of view”
On a video, we see the vehicle drive onto the bridge. He drives normally, then suddenly leaves the road, crossest a guardrail before falling and bursting into flames. “There are two important elements. The trauma caused by the fall, but also that linked to burns from the fire. It is very complex from a clinical point of view”, indicates Federic Stella, rescuer. The Venice public prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation to try to understand the circumstances of the disaster. The city also declared three days of mourning.
