“There is more important than making money and having a last party […] We are playing with people’s health, ”he said during a press briefing in front of the Hôtel de Ville in Quebec on Sunday afternoon.
The mayor refers to bars, like Le Dagobert, which offered a “last dance” before the reinforced health measures apply on Monday. Remember that dancing and karaoke will then be banned again across the province.
The images of people partying in nightclubs on Saturday night, without masks and without distancing, are “terrible” and “unacceptable”, plague the mayor.
“We’re going to end up with outbreaks. Take our responsibilities […], there is a need to act while being responsible “, he added, appealing to” the vigilance and intelligence of citizens “.
The Dagobert administration also reacted a few minutes after Mr. Marchand’s announcement.
“For safety reasons and the announcement of the new sanitary instructions which will be in effect on December 20, we have decided to cancel the last permitted dance evening,” we can read on the organization’s Facebook page.
