Hockey players at Cégep de St-Hyacinthe have engaged in “unacceptable actions” in “the context of a private activity”, indicates the director of communications of the Cégep, Annie Hullman, in a press release published Friday morning.
“This activity was organized in contravention of the rules in force at the College and enacted by the team coach,” specifies Ms. Hullman.
According to her, the Cégep would have been informed of this situation “recently”, without specifying when the alleged facts date back.
“As soon as the College was made aware of the facts, the management acted promptly by initiating an internal investigation, can we read in the press release. The necessary assistance, including psychological support, has been put in place. »
However, the Cégep is careful not to indicate what the players are accused of, but it is said that “all the players present at the activity have been met”. Parents and “stakeholders in the file” were also informed of the situation.
“Some players will be suspended from hockey games until the internal investigation is completed,” it added.
The Cégep de St-Hyacinthe reminds us that “at the start of each season, players are made aware of the importance of ethical and respectful behaviour. »
“In this regard, the College has reiterated to all players the obligation to behave according to the values of diversity, inclusion, caring, accountability and respect. »
