A dinosaur roars in Times Square, New York, to urge global economies to abandon fossil fuel subsidies, as part of a campaign launched by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

“We want to make as much noise as we can this week… when the eyes of the world are on the United Nations, and try to get things moving in this area, on the issue of decarbonizing our economy,” says Boaz Paldi, UNDP Creative Director.
The dinosaur, nicknamed Frankie the Dino, gave a speech at the UN General Assembly last year in a campaign film.
“We have focused this campaign primarily on fossil fuel subsidy reform. We know that in 2021, $423 billion was used to subsidize fossil fuels, Paldi continues. This year, that figure has risen to 600 billion. The situation is therefore not good. At the same time, we see that investments in renewable energy have decreased considerably. »
