While famine threatens the Gazan population, the UN has voted to organize large-scale humanitarian aid. However, no ceasefire is planned.
Thirteen votes in favor and two abstentions for one help humanitarian on a large scale Gaza. Faced with a catastrophic situation and a looming famine the Palestinian territorythe UN Security Council demands the delivery of fuel, food and medical equipment as quickly as possible, but without a ceasefire, at the request of the United States. “This resolution is a step in the right direction, but it must be implemented and accompanied by massive pressure for an immediate ceasefire”declared Riyad Mansour, Palestinian ambassador to the UN.
Antonio Guterres castigates Israel
For his part, the UN Secretary General directly attacks Israel and its way of leading the offensive in this overpopulated territory. “An operation ofhelp effective at Gaza requires the safety of personnel, logistical capacity and the resumption of commercial activity”, underlined Antonio Guterres. Since the start of the conflict, this is only the second time that the UN Security Council has managed to agree on a text.
