A UN agency announced that one of its warehouses was hit on Wednesday March 13 by a strike in the Gaza Strip. “We can confirm that a warehouse and distribution center of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) in Rafah has been hit”declared Juliette Touma, spokesperson for the agency, reporting “many injured”. “At least one UNRWA employee was killed and 22 others injured in an Israeli strike on a food distribution center in eastern Rafah”, added the agency in a press release. Asked by AFP, the Israeli army did not respond immediately
An AFP photographer saw victims arriving at al-Najjar hospital in Rafah, at least one of whom was identified by others there as a UN employee. While the war between Israel and Hamas continues to rage, the Islamist movement’s Ministry of Health has reported at least 88 people killed in the last 24 hours in Israeli bombings which particularly affected southern Gaza. These figures, however, should be used with caution, as they are impossible to confirm independently.
