War in Ukraine: Ukrainian soldiers recount the incursion into Russia

Two weeks after the launch of the surprise Ukrainian operation in Russia, where are the soldiers on the ground? Report from the Saumy region, near the border.
It is at high speed and passing through the fields that a soldier goes, accompanied by a team from France Télévisions, to a Ukrainian position in the region of Sumy (Ukraine). They have to drive quickly, because of the proximity to the border, 1km from Russia. Artillerymen are hidden in the forest. Their mission is to support the Ukrainian incursion by keeping the Russians at a distance from the border with their shells.
A target has been found, a Russian trench. The gunners go to the mortar, in order to fire. The weapon is hidden underground. As they prepare to fire, a drone is spotted. “So it is too dangerous to shoot, the Russians could spot the position”says Anaïs Hanquet, special correspondent in Ukraine. Once the danger has passed, the gunners have a few minutes to launch their attack. This time the shell has not hit its target, so they have to fire again. Then, a drone flies over the area again: proof that Russia, after being surprised by the incursion, is starting to react and resist.
