In times of war, Ukraine needs weapons, ammunition but also men. On the front, soldiers call on their peers to join them as quickly as possible.
In the trenches, he fought the Russians on the Eastern Front. “Kloks” is 24 years old. A volunteer, he joined the Ukrainian army at the start of the war, more than two years ago. Today, he does not understand why young Ukrainians of his age did not choose to defend their country. He explains his point of view: “I don’t know how to motivate young people. I decided on my own to go and fight, even though acquaintances had dissuaded me. If you don’t want the Russians to come to us, we have to chase them away.”
To push back the Russians, who have increased their offensives in recent weeks, Ukraine needs Western weapons, but also men. While the losses are significant, the lack of replacement has become glaring in many battalions. “Normally, a company has more than 100 soldiers. Today, there are a maximum of 25 men on the battlefield”deplores Yegor Dimidiv, Ukrainian lieutenant.
