Ukraine says it repelled largest Russian drone attack in months

A cruise missile and 89 Iranian-designed attack drones. Ukraine accused Russia of launching its largest attack in months on Wednesday, July 31. “Today, Ukrainian air defense resisted and repelled a massive attack by enemy drones”the air force said, claiming that all targets had been shot down. More than 40 drones were neutralized over the capital kyiv and its suburbs, without causing any casualties, according to the municipal military administration.

In the kyiv region, “13 individual houses (…) were damaged. Debris damaged facades, roofs and windows. Emergency services put out a fire in one of them”detailed the head of the regional military administration, Ruslan Kravchenko.

Russia launches drones and missiles into Ukraine almost every night, claiming to target military and energy targets, although Russian strikes frequently hit residential areas, killing and injuring civilians.
