Russian airstrikes followed one another at a rapid pace Saturday on Mykolaiv, a city in southern Ukraine where dozens of soldiers were killed the day before in a strike against an army barracks, according to the governor of the region, Vitaliy Kim.

“We can’t give the air raid warning because by the time we announce this tornado, it’s already here. The message (of warning) and the bombardments arrive at the same time”, declared Mr. Kim on the social networks.
He did not provide details on the extent of the damage or the number of possible victims.
At the same time, witnesses gave assessments varying from simple to double after the destruction by six rockets on Friday of a military barracks in the north of this city.
“No less than 200 soldiers slept in the barracks,” said a 22-year-old soldier interviewed on the spot, according to whom “at least 50 bodies were extracted”.
Another soldier estimated that there could have been 100 dead.
The Russians “cowardly carried out missile strikes against sleeping soldiers. Relief operations are continuing,” said the regional governor.
The information remains locked, at a time when the official discourse wants Mykolaiv, the “shield” of Odessa, the great strategic port located 130 km further west, to resist and repel the assaults of Russian troops.
