The Russian club Zenith Saint Petersburg announced on Wednesday March 2 the termination of the contract of Ukrainian international Yaroslav Rakitskiy, at the player’s request. The 32-year-old defender, who arrived at the club in 2018, was one of the first-team starters, both in the Russian league and in European competitions.
Rakitskiy was not present in the Russian squad for the two games following the invasion of Ukraine. Rakitskiy arrived in 2019 at the Zenith after nearly ten years spent at Chakhtar Donetsk.
Yaroslav Rakitskiy has requested an early end to his contract and this has been agreed by the club.
