This Russian announcement could lead to “a worsening” of the situation around Mariupol, a strategic port in the south-east of the country besieged since the end of February, and in the whole of the Donbass mining basin, said Oleksiï Arestovych, in a video message posted on the presidency’s Telegram account.

According to him, this announcement allows the Ukrainians to hope to be able to “drive out the enemy” from the regions of Kyiv, Cherniguiv (north), Sumy (north-east) and Kharkiv (east), and announce, in the coming weeks, ” victories and counter-attacks.

On the other hand, “on certain front lines, particularly in the East, the situation is far from simple. You have to be ready for it psychologically and from an organizational point of view,” he stressed.

The Russian command surprised Friday by announcing “to concentrate the bulk of the efforts on the main objective: the liberation of Donbass”.

Until then, the Russian power showed its intention to “demilitarize and denazify Ukraine” as a whole, and not only in this mining basin of Donbass where the two pro-Russian separatist “republics” of Donetsk and Lugansk are located. .
