The Niet at the Putin/Biden summit which was announced the day before by the Élysée is not really surprising, and last night Vladimir Putin’s announcements sounded the final burial of the process. But is this a failure for France and Europe, is the conflagration inevitable, while Moscow is toughening its tone?
An attack on the sovereignty of Ukraine says the Elysée
Roland Lombardi is a historian, geopolitical scientist, columnist for the online magazine Fieldhe does not want to believe in the entry into war for the countries engaged in this conflict:
“We have reached here a level of tension not seen since the Cold War era. Often the great discussions on the diplomatic level take place behind the scenes in the field of international relations. The summit that had been announced could please the French but it often leads to nothing, I was convinced that it would be a failure. European countries including France or Germany have no vital interest in Ukraine, and _the solution would be simple_. To get out of it, a member country of NATO, for example France, in view of its place, would have to announce that it refuses Ukraine’s membership. Such a decision would make the Russians back down, but France will not go that far since the country is very dependent on the United States. But from the moment when a country which asks to integrate NATO and that this country has territorial problems, it cannot normally formulate this request for integration ”.
