New bombings fell on the morning of January 2 on Ukraine. They left at least five dead and around a hundred injured. kyiv asks its Western allies to speed up their arms delivery.

Residents of kyiv wait for the air alert to end, hiding in the corridors of the city’s metro. Russian strikes were still underway on the morning of January 2. Around ten powerful explosions resounded in six districts of the capital. Many civilians were affected. Residential buildings were destroyed. The mayor of kyiv came to see the damage. “A large crater is behind me. All residents currently benefit from medical assistance”he says in a video, taken in front of the destroyed buildings.

250,000 people deprived of electricity

A few hours before, air alerts were issued across the country. 72 of the 99 Russian missiles fired were intercepted according to the Ukrainian army. 250,000 people were deprived of electricity following these bombings. The city of Kharkiv, further east, was also hit by bombings. This rain of missiles fell on the country the day after Vladimir Putin’s threat to intensify Russian strikes in Ukraine.
