A somewhat reassuring record. The UK recorded its hottest New Year’s Day on Saturday (January 1) with over 16 degrees Celsius in London, the UK Meteorological Service (Met Office) reported.
A temperature of 16.2 ° C was measured in St James’s Park, a park in the heart of the capital, the Met Office said on Twitter. The previous record dates back to 1916, when a temperature of 15.6 ° C was recorded in Cornwall.
Whilst we await confirmation of any new highest minimum #temperature records, St James’s Park has now provisionally beaten the record for the warmest #NewYearsDay. Further temperature updates will be issued later pic.twitter.com/s3QIiFbNJP
