After five Prime Ministers in 14 years, the traditional right is heading straight for defeat according to all the polls. Perhaps even the worst defeat in the history of the Conservative Party. The purchasing power of the British is at half mast. Brexit is no longer popular. Many regret having believed the Conservative Party which extolled the virtues of Brexit.
The image of Winston Churchill’s party has been tarnished by scandals such as the government’s illegal parties during Covid or, more recently, suspicions of fraudulent betting on elections. To be elected to the House of Commons, you have to come first in a single round. British MPs are elected for a maximum of five years.
