In the UK, rising energy prices are putting many families in dire straits. In Spain, motorists are flocking to gas stations since the price of gasoline fell by 20 cents.

Energy prices hit a stratospheric high in the UK on Friday 1 April. More than 18 million families face average increases of more than 800 euros per year. A loan of 240 euros or the reduction in housing tax is not enough, many households have to make drastic savings.

In Spain, the price of gasoline drops by 20 cents. Gas stations saw hundreds of cars arriving on Friday morning. Motorists are taking advantage of government assistance to refuel. Faced with such a crowd, some gas station attendants faced computer failures. Small service stations are afraid of having to close when the big brands sometimes add ten centimes as a bonus.

Hungary does not intend to do without Russian gas. The Hungarian Prime Minister, Viktor Orban, repeats it: he does not have the means to get angry with Russia. “For us it’s not a question of sweater or heating as some in the West think. The reality is that if the energy does not come from Russia, there is no energy in Hungary”, he says. A position that comes in the middle of the campaign for the legislative elections in the country which will take place on Sunday, April 3.
