This Saturday, December 16, 2023, the election of Miss France 2024 was held live from the Zénith de Lyon. For several hours, the thirty candidates put on a show and presented themselves with the sole hope of succeeding Indira Ampiot. This year it is a 100% female jury who judged the participants. Chaired by the former boss of Miss France Sylvie Tellier, it was composed of the model Adriana Karembeu, the singer Nolwenn Leroy, the actress Stéfi Celma, the pastry chef Nina Métayer, the boxer Estelle Mossely and the comedian Élodie Poux.
The day after the competition during which Ève Gilles was crowned, the controversies grew. A few hours ago, YouTuber EnjoyPhoenix, for example, spoke out to denounce the show, recalling that the new Miss is now harassed and criticized for her appearance. “The worst is what is happening with the Miss France who has just been elected. What she is getting caught in the face. Because people, out of nowhere, are allowing themselves in addition to the competition of giving their salacious and disgusting opinions on the physique of this poor girl, it makes me absolutely crazy and it makes me ask myself questions: does this show still have to take place when you see the harassment that there are on social networks when Miss France is elected, it’s a shame! I’m shocked” she lamented.
But Ève Gilles is obviously not the only one to be mocked. Élodie Poux, who was part of the jury, shared a screenshot on Instagram with the caption: “People often ask me how I manage not to be affected by that…”. In the image, we then discover an odious private message sent by an Internet user. The latter indeed writes: “Good evening, why do ugly people like you vote for a competition of pretty women? Best regards”.
