UFO, extraterrestrial, flying saucer… Discover 5 major unexplained phenomena in France!

Since the second half of the 20th century, several “unidentified aerospace phenomena” (AOP) have been recorded around the world, but also in France. Indeed, the GEIPAN (Group for Study and Information on Unidentified Aerospace Phenomena) has collected nearly 3025 reports in 46 years. In the vast majority of cases, these manifestations find rational explanations. But sometimes the mystery remains.

Did you know ? According to GEIPAN, only 3.3% of aerial phenomena are unidentified after investigation, i.e. 99 cases. Most of the time, it is only drones, satellites, weather balloons or sky lanterns.

While former NASA members are talking about the possible existence of PAN, France Dimanche invites you to come back to 5 strange and unsolved cases that took place in France!

Those weird “D” category cases

Head to Ecquevilly, a small town in the Yvelines (78). On November 15, 1993, around 4:30 a.m., a man was woken by the barking of his dogs. When he looks out the window of his house, he discovers a few steps from his house ” static lights illuminating the ground ». The witness hears no noise, even when the window is open.

He then notices that these lights are heading in the direction of his house, which finds itself lit by “ a luminous circle composed of white, yellow and slightly bluish lights, of different intensities”but also flashes of black light ». Decided, the man leaves his home to see what is going on. But from the first step taken outside, the lights completely disappeared. In total, the experience will have lasted between 20 and 25 seconds.

10 days later, an investigation is opened. To support his words, the man made a sketch to explain what he saw and recounts everything he observed that night. In the absence of conclusive evidence, the Geipan does not come to any conclusion, despite ” sufficiently detailed testimony” from the witness.

On November 11, 1963 in Prémesques (59), a father and his two sons were walking on a country lane, at the edge of the fields. Raising their heads, they discovered an intriguing luminous phenomenon, which “had the appearance of a very large star, brighter than Venus and more extensive”, as reported in 2008 by one of the two children aged 18 at the time. facts.

“A luminous orange ball is stationary below dark clouds for more than a minute. In rotation thereafter, it oscillates from right to left for a few seconds before disappearing at very high speed in the clouds according to a rectilinear trajectory curved upwards. No noise, no streaks are noticed. “Details the Geipan report.

To date, the file is classified as “unexplained, moderately consistent, but with a marked character of strangeness”. The witnesses, meanwhile, are still in shock at this apparition.

  • In Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur

Maurice Masse, a farmer from Valensole (04), is in his lavender field when he goes through an experience that will completely turn his life upside down. On July 1, 1965, around 5:45 a.m., he heard a shrill whistle. Curious, he decides to approach this noise. He discovers in the middle of his field a machine “rugby ball shape”, “dark and dull”, size “of a Renault Dauphine”. But that’s not all: two strange beings of the corpulence of eight-year-old children are next to this machine, with heads“pumpkin-shaped”, a gaping hole as a mouth and white jumpsuits. Impossible for the farmer to be human!

Courageous, the farmer advances towards them. One of the two little beings points a sort of pipe in his direction. Maurice then finds himself paralyzed for several minutes, until the machine takes off. Thinking he was dreaming, Maurice scans the ground and discovers “star-shaped tracks with a cylindrical hole in the middle, in soggy earth “.

But when he returns to the scene to show the evidence to his daughter around 8:30 p.m., the earth is “hard as cement”. The rumor circulating quickly, many curious people decide to come and see what is going on. The traces will be trampled by visitors and the local gendarmerie will not be able to collect any concrete evidence on the spot.

From the balcony of his house in Montchaboud (38), an astronomy enthusiast who observed the Milky Way made a more than surprising discovery: on the night of July 26, 2012, he discovered a “dimly luminous and vaporous ball” , with “diffuse” edges and a diameter slightly larger than the moon.

After six seconds of observation, this ball moved towards the north, very quickly and silently. Observing the object more closely, the man saw “bright spots below the object as well as several small jets of contrail behind it.”

Despite the efforts of the members of the Geipan, the theses studied were unsuccessful, for lack of a photo or video that could explain this mysterious phenomenon.

We are in October 1954, in a small town called Doullens (80). Above a farm, several soldiers observed “on a dark night an unusual aerial phenomenon located under a continuous cloud layer”, having the shape of “an ellipse inclined 25-30° on the horizontal” and moving suspiciously, alternating speeds. The phenomenon “emits a light that changes color approximately every 5 seconds”.

Helicopter, plane, moon… All the hypotheses have been dismantled. Since this observation, this case is classified as strange to very strange phenomenon of medium to strong consistency.

Attention : it is not because no rational explanation has been found that these phenomena are extraterrestrial activities. Most of the time, information is lacking to be able to characterize the phenomenon in question.
