Uber Eats launches new services and changes its pricing structure

(Toronto) Uber Technologies announced on Monday the launch of three new offers for its Uber Eats services that reduce the commissions it has charged restaurants until now.

The first of the offerings allows restaurants paying a 2.9% commission to accept orders directly from their websites or social media accounts and have them fulfilled by delivery people on the Uber Eats platform.

The second offer allows customers to browse the menu, order and pay, on Uber Eats, for the food they will eat in the dining room of the restaurant, which is then charged a 3.0% commission.

The final offer introduces a price structure for deliveries, which include commissions starting at 20%.

The lowest level of the pricing structure helps restaurants process and fulfill orders, but charges customers a standard delivery fee, while higher levels reduce the fees paid by customers and give restaurants more visibility into the price. Uber Eats app.

Restaurants have long complained that Uber’s 30% commission for deliveries is too high, and some remained disappointed even when the company temporarily reduced its commission to 15% for restaurants using their own delivery people at peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
