Following the release of Bono’s autobiography last fall, Surrender: 40 Songs, One StoryU2 will release the album in March Songs of Surrenderin which he revisits 40 of his hits.

The Irish group has been spreading information about it for a few days, relayed by the Twitter account U2Songs.com, which published photos of handwritten letters that The Edge had sent to its fans by email.

The guitarist explains that the four members of the group wanted to see what these pieces meant now, written when they were very young. “Their essence is still there, but how do we reconnect with that essence when we have changed so much, grown so much? “, he asks.

Bono had talked about this approach in his book launched in the fall. “During the pandemic, we were able to reimagine 40 U2 songs for the collection Songs of Surrender. It gave me the opportunity to live in those songs again while I was writing this autobiography. »
