In Australia, entire districts of Sydney were drowned in torrential rains on Sunday July 3. The authorities ordered the evacuation of thousands of people. Emergency services have already rescued 29 people, and have been called more than 1,400 times. “We now face dangers on several fronts: flash floods, river flooding and coastal erosion“, said Steph Cooke, the minister of emergency services for the state of New South Wales (Australia).
Japan is suffocating. For the ninth consecutive day, the temperature exceeded 35 degrees in Tokyo, a historic record. Spikes above 40 degrees have been recorded in some parts of the country, as the rainy season is expected to be in full swing. In China, Typhoon Chaba hit Hong Kong and the south of the country, with winds over 120 km/h.
