The 29-year-old striker scored his sixth goal. In the third period, he took advantage of a lobe from Johnny Gaudreau to appear alone in front of Elvis Merzlikins. He beat the goalkeeper with a fake backhand.

It was the 10th goal for the former Montreal Canadiens color holder in 2021-2022. On Monday, the CH sent Toffoli to the Flames in return for first- and fifth-round picks, hopeful Emil Heineman and striker Tyler Pitlick.

Erik Gudbranson, Elias Lindholm, Matthew Tkachuk, Dillon Dube and Adam Ruzicka also hit the mark in this one-sided win for the Alberta club.

The reply for the Blue Jackets was provided by Adam Boqvist and Zach Werenski.
