Two years after the video, L214 summons the Sobeval slaughterhouse to the Périgueux court

The images shot at the end of 2019 and published in 2020 had aroused a lot of reactions on social networks in particular. Two years later, a trial is scheduled for Friday March 4 at the Périgueux Criminal Court. The L214 association accuses the Sobeval slaughterhouse located in Boulazac of ill-treatment and careless slaughter to prevent it from suffering.

At the time, an activist from the L214 association illegally filmed the inside of the slaughterhouse. In these images, we see calves that still seem conscious just before killing. Justice had opened an investigation and the Public Prosecutor of Périgueux had decided to close the case without further action because the slaughterhouse had come into compliance.

The L214 association does not agree with this decision because for it, if there were any breaches, the slaughterhouse must be condemned. This is why it uses this particular procedure of direct summons which makes it possible to take legal action directly. To initiate this procedure, L214 had to pay 5,000 euros to the court last September.
