Two women victims of an attack committed Monday March 21 in a high school in Malmö in Sweden died, announced the Swedish police. The suspect, an 18-year-old student, was arrested in the late afternoon. The two women, in their fifties, “were school employees”, police said in a statement (in Swedish). They died during their transfer to the hospital.

The circumstances of the tragedy have still not been clarified, assures the police. The tragedy took place shortly after 5 p.m., when around fifty people were in the establishment where it occurred. In the evening, the school building was evacuated and searched and there is no evidence “for the moment to affirm that there would be other authors”says the press release. “We now have a lot of work to do to understand what happened and the reason for this terrible incident”, said Åsa Nilsson, head of the Malmö North local police area. A press conference will take place in Malmö on Tuesday at 9.30 a.m.
